MISSION STATEMENT

The Empowerment Society of Trinidad and Tobago?s mission is to help improve human welfare and the environment, through the development of creative solutions to pressing problems, either solely or in partnership with other organisations which share similar objectives.

HISTORY

The Empowerment Society of Trinidad and Tobago (ESTT) became a registered not-for-profit, non-government organisation on  5th October 2001. It was formed by  Mr. Perry Polar, Mr. Nigel Austin and other former executive members of the Post-Graduate Association (PGA)1998-2000 of The University of the West Indies.

They recognized that of all the countries in the world, Trinidad and Tobago had the greatest potential to pioneer a harmonious multi-ethnic society. The country, however, was a crossroads. Political rhetoric had fractured the society, crime had escalated and the youth had become disenchanted. Much of this social dilemma lay in the inability of the traditional educational system and social services to adequately nurture the academic and emotional needs of the youth.

They recognized that solution to our country's social woes lies in the strengthening of non-governmental, volunteer organization.

These organizations have, over the years, provided specialized, effective social services to the grassroots at a fraction of "traditional government social programmes". Their greatest achievement, however, was to rekindle light in our soulless society by demonstrating the principles of humanity, commitment, selflessness and achievement. These organizations have never been given adequate financial or technical support to achieve their potential.

The Empowerment Society of Trinidad and Tobago was formed "to lend a hand" to those who "lend a hand". If you or your group needs assistance in project planning, project writing or project management we may be able to assist you or at least point you in the right direction.
